Meera Atkinson

Image by Joe Turner Lin at www.flickr.comMan on Wire is a breathtaking documentary about Phillippe Petit’s celebrated tightrope walk between the World Trade Centre’s twin towers in 1974. It skilfully recreates the story of how Petit and his supporters bridged the distance between a mad dream and its seemingly impossible realisation.

Yet, unlikely as it seems, Mr Potato Head is one of the most enduring children’s toys of the 20th century and still going strong more than 50 years after being launched.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/nouqraz/256812761/Sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll. It's a catch phrase that makes clear one undeniable fact: drug use and abuse does not happen in isolation but in a cultural context. And very often, music is a big part of that context. Even Christian musicians aren't immune.

U2 or not U2? Is that really a question? Print E-mail

Geoff Hurst

http://www.flickr.com/photos/irishphiladelphia/214451892/Guy offered me this challenge…  “I learned more about God from a couple of U2 albums than I ever did from the Bible!” Guy and I have this running argument about U2. He thinks they continue to re-invent themselves and address where events have taken us. I think they did some good stuff with Joshua Tree (1987) and Rattle and Hum (1988) but have done nothing really new since then... but I think Guy is probably right.
